The bright green of new Spring leaves …
Birds singing high in the branches …
Enjoying the shade on a hot summer day…
Trees provide an abundance of beauty and protection to all of us every day.
Trees are a very important part of our environment. They provide shelter for animals and people, they provide food, they protect the earth by preventing erosion, and they produce oxygen and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. Celebrate trees by planting one on Arbor Day. National Arbor Day is always celebrated on the last Friday in April, but many states observe Arbor Day on different dates throughout the year based on best tree planting times in their area
Trees are available all over the world for children to explore. Through hands-on activities, children:
- Express the magic of trees through creating flannel board stories
- Explore trees through all the development domains in the ‘Seasons of a Tree’ activity
- Create a beautiful tree using different art mediums
- Develop large motor skills by climbing a ‘tree’
Trees are beautiful and beneficial for our world. Teaching children about trees helps ensure that the beauty and benefits continue for future generations.
